5 Strategies to Slow Premature Skin Aging
How to Slow Premature Skin Aging?
Are you noticing visible lines and wrinkles on your face? It is totally natural for our face to start losing that youthful fullness. However, there are many factors that cause our skin to age, we still have control over some of them. What we don’t have control over is the natural aging process which is totally normal and has its own sense of beauty.
What do we have control over then? We can influence another type of aging that is related to our environment and lifestyle choices, which can cause our skin to age prematurely. To reduce the premature skin aging, you need to follow some strategies and take some preventive actions, here are some of them:
- Wear your SPF Daily:
Whether in summer or winter, applying sunscreen is essential. You should use sunscreen every morning, and it has to be 30 SPF or higher and water-resistant. For more effective protection, you should reapply sunscreen every two hours.
- Be Gentle while Cleansing:
The more you scrub your skin, the more it will get irritated and irritation accelerates skin aging. So, don’t be harsh on your skin, gentle washing helps to get rid of dirt, oils and makeup without irritating your skin.
- Use Rich Moisturizer:
Moisturizer is great for locking water in your skin which in return keeps it hydrated, glowy, and looking youthful. It would be great if you use a moisturizer that is rich in hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 to trap water in your skin.
- Start Using Retinoids:
Over time, skin starts to lose collagen, the protein responsible for keeping the skin lifted and smooth. That’s why using retinoids is essential especially for those in their thirties. Start including retinoids in your skincare routine, preferably a light formula as a start and then you can upgrade. Use it 3 times a week until you get used to it. It must be at night and don’t forget to wear your SPF in the morning.
- What you eat is important:
What you put inside your body, will be reflected on the outside of it, including your skin. That’s why it is important to eat plenty of fresh food and vegetables to nourish your skin, and prevent damage that leads to premature skin aging.
You should also avoid anything that can dehydrate your skin, such as food high in sugar and refined carbohydrates that can age your skin faster by breaking down glucose.
