Dandruff and how to get rid of it

Despite the fact that dandruff is not contagious nor a serious condition, it can be VERY annoying, frustrating, and hard to deal with.

Let’s know more about dandruff, its causes, and how to treat it.

What is dandruff?

Dandruff is a condition where small tiny pieces of dry skin flake off of your scalp, causing itchiness, redness, irritation, and discomfort.

Causes and how to treat it:

Dandruff can be caused by various factors and triggers, like the following.

– Dry Skin:

Dry skin caused by dehydration is one of the most common reasons that cause dandruff, and since winter is around the corner you might find a notable increase in dandruff during the season.

The key is to hydrate and moisturize. There are many shampoos and hair products that can help moisturize your body and scalp and get rid of dandruff, for example, Tea Tree Essential Oil, which is a natural moisturizer and can treat dandruff significantly

-A medical condition:

A lot of medical conditions can cause dandruff, which will not only affect the scalp but other body parts as well.

One of these conditions is Seborrheic dermatitis. Using a tar-based shampoo can be enough to stop the skin cells from overturning and creating dandruff, or talk to your doctor for a solution that matches your condition.

– Low usage of Shampoo:

Not using enough shampoo while showering may cause dandruff, because oil can accumulate and builds on the skin and scalp, causing dandruff. This can happen too when your shampoo is not strong enough to break the oil barrier causing your dandruff.

The solution is to use shampoo more often or contact your doctor for a medicated shampoo to use a couple of times a week.

– Allergies:

Having any sort of allergies, from pollen to vegetables, fruits, and nuts can be a very valid reason for dandruff.

If you suffer from scalp itchiness or irritation after eating/using/encountering a specific item or product, it can be because of your sensitivity towards it.

Stop using that product immediately and contact your doctor for a better understanding of how to deal with your case.

Dandruff can be annoying, but it can be 100% treatable, using the right products and a hair/skincare routine.
